Follow your baby’s development week by week — from the first heartbeat to tiny kicks, Explore personalized tips, insights, and emotional moments along the way.
As the baby grows, you may begin to notice more distinct features:
Week 13: The baby’s body is beginning to catch up with the head in size, and its tiny hands and feet start to form more distinctly.
Week 14: Facial features become clearer, and the baby starts to form unique characteristics, including fingerprints.
Week 15: The baby’s skin becomes less translucent, and more detailed facial features emerge.
Week 16: The baby begins to develop muscle tone, and movement inside the womb becomes noticeable for some mothers.
At this point, many women start feeling more comfortable as symptoms begin to settle:
Reduced Nausea: For many, morning sickness starts to disappear in the second trimester.
Visible Baby Bump: By this time, the uterus has grown enough that your belly will likely begin showing.
Increased Energy: You might start to feel less tired and more energetic as the body adjusts.
Mild Backache: As your body shifts to accommodate the growing baby, you may start feeling mild discomfort in your lower back.
A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten and the future worth living for.
This visit will be focused on continued growth and the second trimester screenings:
Ultrasound: At this point, a detailed ultrasound can be performed to check for any birth defects.
Genetic Screening: Your doctor might offer non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) to screen for genetic conditions.
Prenatal Care: The doctor will review how you’re feeling and offer advice on what to expect in the second trimester.
